Salons & Salon Evenings – Spaces for What Truly Matters
Between the public and the private lies the salon space – a place where people meet as equals to speak about what truly matters. Ursula Hillbrand invites you to salon evenings in Bregenz, Vienna, Innsbruck and Meran.

“Transcending small talk as a bonding ritual, an ending up in real conversation is an art form.”
– Ursula Hillbrand
What Is a Salon?
A salon is more than an event. It is a space for encounter, resonance and meaningful conversation. Historically, salons were places where new social and cultural ideas could emerge, hosted by people who brought together guests from different backgrounds and created a distinctive culture of conversation. Ursula Hillbrand takes up this tradition in a contemporary way through her approach to Salonhosting.
“All Real Living Is Meeting” – Martin Buber
The focus is not on networking or superficial sociability. And yet, a good salon often begins precisely where people first arrive, orient themselves and meet one another with ease. The salon gives this beginning space, without remaining there. From first conversations, atmosphere and mutual curiosity, a deeper quality opens: a space in which people truly listen, share perspectives, think together and explore questions that often have no place in everyday life.
Salon evenings create an atmosphere in which trust, openness and genuine presence become possible, and something new can emerge with ease.
Our Salons – Many Places, One Attitude
Bregenzer Salon
The Bregenzer Salon is where the idea of Salonhosting first took shape, around ten years before the founding of the Petrus Café Brasserie in Bregenz, it is the “mother” of all subsequent salons that were founded in different places. This particular spirit continues to live on there: an atmospheric space for encounter emerged, dedicated to conversations about the future, society, leadership, culture and human development.
The salon space can also be rented for workshops, retreats, dialogue formats and events.
Vienna Salon for the Future
The Vienna Salon connects the classical Viennese salon tradition to current issues of the future. Different perspectives, socio-political themes and genuine dialogue are at the centre.
Innsbruck Salon
The Innsbruck Salon creates an open space for encounter for people who engage with questions about the future, collaboration and social development.
Meran Salon
The Meran Salon creates an open space for encounter for people who engage with questions about the future, collaboration and social development and brings together diverse cultural perspectives and creates spaces for cross-border dialogue within the South Tyrolean regional and global context.
What Can You Expect at a Salon Evening?
Every salon evening takes shape based on the specific group, the topic, and the atmosphere of the evening.
There are no rigid formats and no classical stage setting. Instead, a carefully hosted space opens up in which people can enter into conversation with one another – openly, respectfully and, and as equals.
Often, an evening begins with an impulse or a question. From there, conversations, shifts in perspective and new connections begin to unfold.
Salon evenings bring together people who have something to say – or who simply know how to listen well.
Salonhosting – the Art of Being a Host
Salonhosting connects the tradition of European salons with modern dialogue methods and the attitude of Art of Hosting.
At the centre is the role of the host: she does not merely design a room, but creates an atmosphere in which encounter, trust and collective intelligence can emerge.
Ursula Hillbrand is one of the pioneers of the Art of Hosting in the German-speaking world and has for many years connected process facilitation, hosting and salon culture into her own distinctive approach.
Where resonance emerges, the future begins.
